When Selena Gomez returned to the social media site and rapidly reclaimed the top spot, Kylie Jenner was the most followed female on Instagram.

Gomez was formerly the Instagram user with the most followers, but she took a break from it and then became even more popular. As of Thursday, both ladies had close to 400 million followers.

Most recently, Gomez shared a photo of herself enjoying a drink, saying, "I deleted this one time because I thought maybe it was too much, but eh."

The singer had told Vanity Fair that she felt Instagram was toxic and took it off her phone and had her crew post instead.

I don't care if people think I'm stupid or unattractive. But these individuals are pretty specific," she said to the publication. "They write in such detail and with such intent. I would be sobbing nonstop. I was anxious all the time. I was unable to continue.

The only application I have on my phone is TikTok because it's a little less aggressive, she continued. Social media has many positive attributes, including interacting with fans and learning about their lives. I developed a strategy. My staff will compile a few remarks that are positive in terms of feedback.

Today, Gomez has only received love, as evidenced by the numerous compliments left on her most recent post. An admirer commented, "Amazing! God willing, it's back.

Later on Thursday, Gomez revealed in a TikTok Live video that she is taking another social media hiatus.
