Shaffie Weru, a media personality, has earned a new position as the Head of Events and Branding at Nairobi County under the administration of Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Just recently, Shaffie Weru had discussed the possibility of returning to radio. In an interview with Vybz Radio, the former Kiss Fm anchor claimed there is a chance of returning to the radio if a financially lucrative opportunity arises.

Shaffie did, however, rule out ever returning to Radio Africa, his previous employer, where he had hosted radio programs for more than 18 years on their numerous radio stations.

In a previous interview with Nairobi News, he had the opportunity to discuss the leading cause of his coworkers' termination.

Shaffie claimed it was more about the businesses he represented than the remarks or tweets he had sent out. As a huge name and well-known presenter, he was linked with big businesses, and as soon as he began to face attacks on social media, these businesses were also dragged into chaos. The only way to avoid a crisis was to fire him.

Their on-air comments that were regarded as derogatory of women led to the scandal that led to their dismissal.

Their remarks were in response to a report that a guy threw a woman, age 20, from a building in March after she resisted his sexual advances. Netizens who disapproved of how they handled the situation vented their anger at them during their talk. To leave their positions, they demanded that the three be fired immediately.

However, internet users had various opinions on Shaffie's comments. Some sided with him, arguing that they mirror modern life.

Shaffie later sued his old employer for breach of contract after being fired, which completely changed the scenario.

Shaffie filed a lawsuit and demanded damages of 21 million shillings for contract breach and wrongful termination.

Yet, he claims that despite continuing the legal dispute, he and radio Africa are amicable. He continues by saying that while his attorneys participate in the lawsuit, he is not.

He would later admit that the drama had taken a toll on him and that he almost succumbed to despair but was thankful for the support of his friends and family during those trying times.

The radio DJ was fired after more than 18 years of service with radio Africa, during which time he worked on several of their radio stations, including Kiss 100.

In 2001, Shaffie began his radio career by co-hosting a well-liked morning show with Kalekye Mumo before Kalekye quit. Later, he collaborated with Adelle Onyango on the same program before Kamene and Kibe took their place.
