Gospel singer Justina Syokau, who has drawn controversy, has spoken out about why she still hasn't found a compatible companion ten years after splitting from her baby daddy.

The singer admitted that being a single mother of one causes guys to avoid her in an interview with Mungai Eve. According to Justina, most men hesitate to assume parental duties for a child who is not their biological offspring. She continued by saying that whenever a man expressed interest in her, he swiftly withdrew after learning about her child.

According to a past interview on Radio Jambo, the singer, and her baby's father separated after allegations of infidelity and abuse. Justina disclosed that her ex-husband would go out of his way to help strangers but wouldn't extend the same kindness to her and their children. She added that because of how well he treated others, it was hard for them to believe that he could be an uncaring man or a womanizer.

Justina Syokau previously revealed in an interview with Amina Abdi that one of the reasons for her ten-year singlehood was due to her parent's encouragement to keep trying and hoping for the marriage to work out. However, this was not the case, as her ex-husband continued to cheat even after reconciliations.

The Kamba gospel artist, who hails from Machakos, got married in a joyful ceremony in 2012, but soon after the wedding, her marriage began to deteriorate, and she suffered physical and verbal abuse from her husband. Despite her efforts to save the marriage, the infidelity continued, and they eventually separated.

According to Justina, her marriage started to fall apart shortly after the wedding. Living with her in-laws became difficult, and she blamed them for the issues in her marriage.

She also revealed that her husband started physically and verbally abusing her soon after they got married. He would punch her at the slightest provocation, and Justina always lived in fear of being attacked.

Despite enduring the abuse and hoping for change, their relationship continued to deteriorate over time.

After her husband and housekeeper's affair was exposed, Justina found herself homeless and sleeping on the streets with her baby. Despite denying any wrongdoing, she was thrown out of her own home with only her baby's clothes.

A kind stranger gave her money for transportation back to her parent's home in Machakos, but they were unsupportive due to their traditional views on marriage. Feeling unwelcome, Justina left and began searching for work.

Her experiences have shaped her into the artist she is today, and she is now focused on achieving her artistic goals. Justina encourages women in abusive relationships to take action and not tolerate the pain.
