Nigerian chef Hilda Baci today received her plaque from the Guinness World Records after she was officially certified as the longest individual cooking session.

Baci surpassed the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by Indian Lata Tondon when she clocked 93 hours and 11 minutes, cooking 100 dishes on May 15.

“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes,” GWR said.

After reviewing the footage, Guinness World Records declared Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) GWR.

"As with all longest marathon records, the participant is allowed a five-minute rest break for every hour of continuous activity." If these rest periods are not taken, they can add up. During the effort, they were the only times Hilda could use the restroom or sleep," according to the statement.

The GWR stated shortly after Baci's challenge that they were only in a rush to declare the record official once they reviewed all relevant evidence related to the challenge.

"We're aware of this amazing record attempt, but we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record," GWR tweeted on May 15.

Hilda said she tried the Guinness World Record to "put Nigerian cuisine on the map" and "inspire young African women to chase their dreams."
