Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino have exchanged words on Twitter after Kuria's remarks about journalists.

The exchange of words began when Babu Owino tweeted, "rule jama was burning legs anatusumbua ssa, achomeke migu in piece."

This was about Moses Kuria, who suffered a burn on his legs when his heater malfunctioned. The CS was hospitalized for some time before making a quick recovery. Moses Kuria did not take this lying down as he responded to the tweet calling babu owino an uncircumcised fool. The stereotype brings the insult that men from the luo community do not get circumcised.

Babu Owino fired another bullet at the CS, saying that he did not mention any names and that the CS is missing his male anatomy.

So what is the genesis of this war? This all started when the trade CS called nation media group journalists Malaya after they did an expose on him about the oil scandal. After the feature story, Moses Kuria went on a social media rant saying he would fire any government official who advertises with the media station.

Media Council of Kenya (MCK) CEO David Omwoyo has condemned Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria's attack on the media.

The Council has warned that Kuria’s continued attacks and profiling of the media and journalists pose a big threat to Kenya's independence and freedom of the press.

"The Council notes that this is the most extreme, since independence that individuals have pushed media and government relations to the brink and lowered the country's dignity," Omwoyo said.

He said there exists an array of platforms through which any aggrieved party with media reportage can lodge their complaint and have the issue at hand addressed.
