The musician Bahati took to social media on Wednesday night to claim that the music distribution business Ziiki Media hacked his YouTube channel and deleted his collaboration with Rwandese singer Bruce Melodie.

"Dear Bahati supporters. My song Diana with Bruce Melodie of Rwanda was illegally removed from YouTube by Ziiki media. Ziiki media are con artists, he claimed in a post on Instagram.

He later added a caption;

This is where we pay our taxes, Dear Kenyan Government. Help Us Fight Off These Swindlers! VERY SAD!!!"

The musician has reacted to the charges being made by Ziiki media.

We are referring to the regrettable Instagram post by our Kenyan artist Kevin Kioko, also known as Bahati. Bahati claimed in his blog post that Ziiki Media had "hacked" his YouTube channel, removed one of his songs "illegally," and called the business "fraudsters" without providing any justification or evidence to support such an accusatory accusation.

We refute every claim made by Bahati in the previous post, and we don't see the need to justify such blatant lies at this time further.

Ziiki demanded in a statement that the musician apologize to them;

"We demand an unequivocal apology from Bahati and the immediate removal of this egregiously disrespectful tweet. The post is defamatory, and Ziiki Media will seek restitution at the proper forum if Bahati does not immediately and unconditionally apologize.


Since October 2020, Ziiki has been disseminating Bahati's music on all digital service providers, including YouTube, following contracts that the corporation and the musician have signed. Similar to all legal agreements, there are commitments made by each side that they must uphold. Sometimes consequences that the other party may find unpleasant results when responsibilities are not supported by one side.

Social media is scarcely a place to seek legal remedy, even though Bahati has millions of admirers there where he discusses his music and personal life. The dispute resolution procedures are spelt out in the contract that Bahati and Ziiki Media signed. Before escalating, we advise Bahati to seek legal counsel.
