Kongkong Paulino Matip, one of the house's residents, revealed that they inherited the house from their father when he passed on.
"The house is ours... We acquired it after the demise of our father in 2012 here in Nairobi. We went back to South Sudan for the burial, in the process of the funeral and the passage of our dad. It took us a while to come back to Nairobi. It took us a while to settle down. Unfortunately, We were saddened by the civil war crisis in our country in 2013. We were still living there in 2014, and I left my brother there early 2014, but around mid-2014, one of our brothers evacuated my little brothers that he wanted to rent the house. Since then, they vandalised the house. Our cars disappeared," he said.
"... 2016, I was denied access to the house. I filed a report, but it was null and void. I went to South Sudan. That is when I heard that Alex Apoko had gained access to the house. I reported it to our embassy," he added.
