Controversial socialite and influencer, Shakilla, has stirred controversy and drawn criticism from Kenyans following her recent statements about her dating preferences and financial expectations. During an interview on a local radio station, Shakilla stated that she exclusively seeks companionship with older, affluent men who can provide her with a daily allowance of KSh 60,000 for her daily expenses. She emphasized her preference for financially generous individuals who do not shy away from spending.


"I don't date broke men. I only date men who can give me KSh 60,000 every day for my upkeep. That's the minimum amount I can accept. I also like men who are older than me, because they have more experience and money. They also know how to treat a woman well. I don't like young men who are stingy and immature," Shakilla said.

Many Kenyans found Shakilla's comments offensive and attacked her on social media for being materialistic, unrealistic, and disrespectful. She was accused of being a prostitute, a gold-digger, and a negative role model for young females. Others counseled her to put in serious job and make her own money rather than relying on men to support her.

"Shakilla is a disgrace to women. She is selling herself cheaply to men who don't care about her. She should respect herself and find a decent job. She is setting a bad example for young girls who look up to her," one user commented.

"Shakilla is living in a fantasy world. She thinks that men will give her KSh 60,000 every day for nothing. She is delusional and greedy. She should wake up and face reality. No man will waste his money on her," another user wrote.

Shakilla is no new to controversy since she has already been a part of various scandals. She once asserted that she had slept with a number of famous people, including rapper Khaligraph Jones and football player Victor Wanyama, but later recanted her claims and apologized. Due to her overstaying her visa and breaking the restrictions, she was additionally fined and given a two-month travel ban from Turkey.
