In the now-viral video, the politician appears slumped on his desk as the probe goes on with his eyes partially closed. The concerned parties tried to wake up, and that is when things took a turn as the politician refused to be still, causing the probe to be stopped.

Pondei was rushed out of the meeting after fainting, and as other members considered calling an ambulance, the official was led out by a police officer and two other men.

The video has now been confirmed to be from 2020, and the person in the video was identified as Daniel Pondei, the acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)

The NDDC had been the target of numerous mismanagement reports. However, management claims that all expenditures, including a sizable sum for COVID-19, were justifiable.

"this whole continent is a mess, why is that man trying to give CPR while wearing his mask LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" a twitter user joked about the incident.

Nigeria's president at the time of the incident responded to the reports, emphasizing that his administration would do everything possible to weed out regional development saboteurs.

"... I have made it clear to the National Assembly and our investigating and law enforcement agencies that better coordination in their work is required to achieve the shared goal of ensuring the sanity, transparency, and accountability of dedicated funds." said Buhari
