Nonini, a genge music pioneer, regrets his alleged support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Nonini stated in a statement posted Monday night on the social networking platform X that his determination originates from the nation's current direction, which he finds unacceptable.

"Looking back at how our country is going a year down the line with this government. I want to share my apology loudly to Kenyans for supporting this government and some leaders you know I did," he said

The Kwanza government in Kenya has experienced scathing criticism as President William Ruto's administration marked a year in office, with the most recent Infotrak survey revealing that 53% of Kenyans believe the country is on the wrong track.

Individuals who believe the country is heading wrong use high living costs and unemployment as arguments.

The opposition justified its anti-government protests at the start of this year by citing the high living expenses.

Because of the high living expenses, 89% of respondents believe Kenya is heading in the wrong direction. Unemployment was cited as the second factor.
