Vanessa, a.k.a. Cartoon Comedian, recently shared her unique journey to stardom.

The comedian admitted to Oga Obinna on his well-known YouTube show that she started peddling Omena to relieve the stress of dropping out of high school and having so much free time.

The journey of a Cartoon Comedian began in Form Two when she struggled with the disappointment of quitting school because of financial limitations. During her eighth-grade year, her parents divorced, leaving her mother as her only caregiver. Cartoon, who valued her relationship with her father, deeply felt the emotional toll of her parents' divorce.

"That thing affected me so much. I was so connected to dad. Yes I loved mum, but nilikuwa napenda dad," she shared.

Her mother drove her to a reputable high school in Karen. She eventually left as a result of not having school expenses. Later, she attended a school in Dagoretti where things were very different.

"I used to shower with hot water in Karen and eat well, then now in Kiambu we were sharing bathrooms," she spoke about the rough life.

She quit because she was unable to continue. She even mentioned paying school fees once more. "People were scurrying for food, we were squeezing in the bathroom, and girls were peeing there," were some of her excuses.

This occurred in Form 2. She also said she found her new school dull and that "life started being a bit tricky for me."

"I felt disconnected from my education," she said before beginning to sell omens. "Omena and my cousin Alice visited. I began to feel that I should use my time omena of sale since I was home from school most of the time due to the lack of expenses. So, I began to sell when I was out and about. I was determined to succeed in this venture. I understood that the mama at the soko would purchase the basin of omena for Sh1000 if I got up incredibly early. I even went to hotels owned by the Kikuyus to prepare meals for them.

Her work was fruitful. "On a good day, I could make about Sh2,000 each day. Considering that I would travel great distances to hawk. The best business was selling early to hotels.

She would buy her family's groceries since she was so proud of her labor of love. "I would return home in the evening and be overjoyed to find money in my luggage. She giggled as she recalled her past. "I would take out the money and sit back naingia na unga, and my mum respected me, Hadi naeza mtuma.

"I became a boss lady. Now sadly my omena supplier stopped sending to me, coz she went to ushago. So I decided to switch."
