Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) operators can now receive payments through a cashless payment solution to provide convenience, transparency, and financial accountability.
This is after digital payments service provider SasaPay unveiled a payment solution dubbed SasaPay Fare Collection Tills.
Users are only required to register with SasaPay to receive dedicated Till numbers through which the passengers make bus fare payments.
The Till accepts payments from SasaPay users and all other networks.
Matatu owners or operators can track real-time fare collection, enhancing financial transparency.

On the other hand, passengers are required to download the SasaPay app.
Speaking during the launch, SasaPay Head of Customer Success and Marketing Catherine Mwihaki said accountability is the primary advantage of adopting the SasaPay Till.
Matatu owners and Sacco administrators can effortlessly monitor and manage all fare collections, eliminating the risks associated with cash handling and significantly enhancing financial transparency.”
OMA Sacco, a bus company that runs electric buses on the routes via Buru Buru and Nairobi City Centre, has already adopted Collection Till by SasaPay.
The company has started a referral campaign with a focus on matatu drivers and conductors of OMA Sacco to promote the widespread adoption of the SasaPay platform.
They will get a Sh30 instant credit to their SasaPay account for each customer they successfully onboard.
“Our customers have wholeheartedly accepted the SasaPay Platform and now pay their fares with ease. I highly recommend SasaPay to fellow matatu industry stakeholders, particularly Saccos, as it not only mitigates security risks associated with cash handling but also offers cost-effective payment solutions,” George Githinji, OMA Chairman, said.
