President William Ruto on Thursday assured Nzoia sugar Company farmers that they would receive their payments in the next two days.

Speaking during a meeting with the Nzoia Sugar Company farmers, the Head of State vowed to clear the company’s debts, which amount to Kes 1.7 billion, and ensure that all farmers receive their dues.

 He expressed his commitment to finding a lasting solution for Nzoia Sugar Company, a challenge that previous administrations had struggled to address.

“We have calculated a Kes 1.7 billion debt, and when I leave this place in the next two days, all farmers will have received their money,” Ruto said.

On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stressed the importance of establishing effective management for Nzoia Sugar Company, emphasizing the need for timely payments to farmers and workers.

 He also proposed the distribution of dividends ranging from Kes 300 million to Kes 500 million annually, either to the county government or directly to the farmers.

On the other hand, National Assembley Speaker Moses Wetangula, called upon leaders in Bungoma County to prioritize unity and avoid engaging in divisive politics.

 He called for cooperation among farmers, workers, and leaders within the Nzoia community, urging them to stand together and remain committed to the company’s success.
