Nigeria’s transport tech startup Treepz has expanded to Kenya after raising Kes150.7 million.
Treepz, which offers ride-hailing and rental services, will be expanding to Kenya after similar expansions in Uganda and Ghana over the last year.
The capital for expansion came from international investors such as GIIG Africa Fund, MoAngels, Roselake VC, Unpopular VC, Goodwater Capital, and BKR Capital.
Additionally, there were follow-on investments from current Treepz investors, including, Winston Limited, led by the Lynch BrothersShockVentures, Aston Investments, and Novum Actus, led by Clara Ogunsemi.
Treepz Co-Founder and CEO Onyeka Akumah noted that the company focuses on building a centralised solution across Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria to provide excellent mobility services, for their businesses and personal needs.
“We hope this will be the experience Kenyans will enjoy with our service and remember, as we build a world-class mobility business for Africans and the rest of the world, " he said.
To run Kenyan operations, Treepz has appointed Samar Patel as its new country manager. The company is planning to expand to Mombasa later.
Patel boasts over 18 years of experience in sales, transportation, and technology with firms such as SWVL Kenya.
He will be expected to grow and innovate the corporation in the region.
Recently, Treepz has placed a major emphasis on car rental services. In response to this action, Treepz Kenya has also signed contracts with a few well-known businesses to provide commuter services for their staff members or students.
Reputable businesses like Twiga Foods, Abacus Schools, OAK House School, and Diamond Trust Bank are among these businesses, and 20 high-profile deals across Kenya are currently in the works.
