Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday received two crude oil tankers, 252-metre-long MT Front Capella and 250-metre-long MT Norddolphin, loaded with 172,191 tonnes of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel.
After the Kenyan government inked a Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement with UAE's Abu Dhabi National Oil Corporation (ADNOC) Global Trading for the supply of automobile petrol oil and Jet A-1 for 270 days (nine months), the oil tankers are already arriving from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The 2017-built MT Front Capella, flying the Marshall Islands flag, is transporting 83,000 tonnes of Jet A-1 (aviation fuel) from Port Ruwais in the United Arab Emirates.
It took 10 days and 14 hours to sail from the UAE.
Additionally constructed in 2017, the oil tanker MT Norddolphin transported 89 191 tonnes of automobile oil (diesel and petrol) into the nation.
