The Kenya Association of Manufacturers(KAM) has revealed that the sector is losing about Kes2.86 billion daily due to the ongoing anti-government protests in the country.
Speaking on Friday, KAM Chairman Rajan Shah called upon the government and the opposition to iron out their differences since it was causing the country huge losses.
“The ongoing demonstrations have dealt a significant blow to the manufacturing sector. And that is why we are urging the Kenya Kwanza government and Azimio La Umoja coalition to resolve their differences through dialogue,” Shah said.
Further, the Association says the protests have made it challenging for customers to visit businesses because they fear being caught up in the chaos.
The union also claims that because of the difficult times the nation is going through, the ongoing protests have made the already challenging economic position worse.
This comes even as the Azimio la Umoja Coalition insists that its anti-government demonstrations will go as planned until the government listens to their grievance.
