Public health officers have shut down Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County following the death of two students after a diarrhoea outbreak.

The outbreak saw 124 students hospitalised last week at the Kakamega County General Hospital.

In a statement, the school has confirmed that two students, one from Bungoma and another from Navakholo in Kakamega county, have died of bacterial infections.
