Nigerian authorities have detained the singer-songwriter Naira Marley in connection with the passing of Afrobeats icon MohBad.

Marley was being held, according to Lagos police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, "for questioning and other investigation activities."

Marley revealed on X that he was helping investigators look into MohBad's death and was "meeting with the police in the hopes that the truth will be revealed and that justice will be served."

On September 12, MohBad suddenly passed away in a hospital in Lagos. His family hastily buried him.

Fans of the 27-year-old singer protested his passing and demanded inquiries, which prompted authorities to exhume the star's body for an autopsy.

Fans were distraught with Marley, who had signed MohBad to his Marlian Records record company.

After a dispute with Marley, MohBad departed the label last year.

After his passing, multiple videos of MohBad griping about his association with Marlian Records reappeared.
