Mugithi star and police officer Samidoh Muchoki has sparked speculation about a possible run for the Ol Joro Orok parliamentary seat in 2027, following a series of public actions that suggest a growing interest in politics.
His recent food donations to Nyandarua residents affected by wildlife invasions, coupled with the use of the hashtag #Oljoro_Orok001 in his social media posts, have only fueled the rumors.
Further intensifying the buzz, Samidoh was spotted in a meeting with former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, a move seen by many as aligning himself with key political figures ahead of the next general election.

Currently serving as a police officer, Samidoh remains under scrutiny, but his expanding public presence — both in music and civic outreach — appears to be laying the groundwork for a serious political transition.
The singer began doing groundwork by offering assistance to needy Nyandarua residents years ago, but his resolve seems to be even stronger after running into problems with the National Police Service.
For instance, in 2023, Samidoh and his wife, Edday Nderitu, offered food aid to residents.
The two were captured in a video interacting warmly with locals who have been struggling due to hippopotamuses invading their homes and farmlands.
Samidoh wore a white t-shirt while Edday sported a full denim outfit, both appearing cheerful as they conversed with community members.
Large sacks of food, transported by lorry, were distributed to families affected by wildlife encounters.
The residents expressed gratitude for the couple’s support, praising their timely intervention in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the community.
Samidoh, currently in the US, has been heavily implying that he will vie for the parliamentary seat.
For instance, on Sunday, June 8, the artiste shared a photo with his young son.
He joked about people saying that he is a red flag, writing:
“The character I have built over the years is what you are calling a red flag? You cousins, sometimes you can be toxic.”
However, the key text was in the hashtag he used, #oljoro_orok001.
Before then, Samidoh also shared a photo with his youngest daughter. The little girl sat on her father's lap as he leaned on a black vehicle. As usual, his main caption was a joke.
“I hope one day I will sleep before midnight like normal human beings. Every day I sleep, tomorrow, even yesterday, I slept today,” he wrote.
He yet again used the hashtag #Oljoro_Orok001.
The clearest indication yet that Samidoh might be gunning for a political office is his meeting with opposition politician Fred Matiang’i.
Samidoh was seen exchanging a warm handshake with Matiang’i, a member of the group planning to challenge President William Ruto in the next general election.
The meeting took place outside a dark wooden structure, likely located in the US.
On social media, numerous Kenyans encouraged him to pursue a career in politics.
Elsewhere, Samidoh appears to have planned a prolonged stay in the US, as his tour itinerary extends through late July, suggesting his return to Kenya is not imminent.
His scheduled performances include Houston on June 21, Austin on June 28, Lowell on July 4, Dallas on July 5, and Seattle on July 12.
