The mellow-voiced crooner was declared dead at Mombasa's Makadara hospital after being transported there after complaining of feeling ill.

Ally B had spent his day at Kilifi running his daily errands before his untimely death.

Ally B died as a result of excessive blood pressure, according to people close to the singer.

Fans, music colleagues, and friends went to social media shortly after the news surfaced to grieve his death and express their condolences.

Suzanna Owiyo, a well-known Benga singer, expressed her amazement and anguish on Twitter, writing, "Oh Nooooo...This is the most heartbreaking news I've heard today. Ally B is no longer alive... Power, rest in peace..."

"We're in deep grief to announce the death of our big brother Ally B Khamisi," said Coast-based singing duo CSM Wazito. May his soul rest in peace for all eternity. Bro, rest in peace."

In 2017, Ally B, real name Ali Khamisi Mwaliguli, ran for a Member of the County Assembly seat in Junda Ward in Kisauni, Mombasa County, on a Jubilee Party ticket.
