After a few years away, Lingala music legend Koffi Olomide, also called "Le Grand Mopao Mokonzi," finally announced his highly anticipated return to Kenya. On December 8–9, 2023, the legendary performer—best known for his hit song "Mwinda"—will go live at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
Olomide posted a heartfelt message on social media expressing his desire to get back in touch with his Kenyan followers. "Mopao will visit Kenya on December 8–9. There'll be fire. I'll be returning to my native country after a long absence. You have been missed for a very long time. I have to make sure you know how much I adore you," he declared.
Olomide kindly invited everyone to attend the thrilling live performance in Nairobi, irrespective of age or gender. "Mopao is going back to Kenya; I adore them," he said in closing.
Despite Olomide's enormous popularity in Kenya, he briefly fell out with the country following an incident in 2016 involving a female dancer at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The Kenyan government deported him as a result of the incident.

Olomide justified his behavior by saying that he was defending his group against an impending danger. But in 2020, he publicly apologized to Kenyans, admitting his error and expressing appreciation for the government's choice to let him return.
“I am sincerely sorry for what I did. To everybody who was affected by what I did, I apologize. I want to thank the Kenyan government for endorsing me. I missed Kenya so much, the country of my life,” he stated during his apology.
Koffi Olomide, who gained notoriety in the late 1970s as a member of the trio "Princesse ya Synza" with Papa Wemba and King Kester Emeneya, is renowned for his flamboyant style and captivating stage presence. Music enthusiasts and his devoted fans are sure to mark this historic occasion with his return to Kenya.
