Mr. Combs stated, "We have decided to resolve this matter amicably." I wish Cassie and her family the best of luck. Love."
Ms. Ventura, who signed to Mr. Combs's Bad Boy label when she was 19 and dated him for over a decade, accused Mr. Combs of years of beatings, controlling behaviour, and different forms of sexual abuse, including a rape, in a lawsuit that attracted international attention. Mr. Combs' lawyer, Ben Brafman, responded, "Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations."
Mr. Combs, according to Ms. Ventura's action, which was filed on Thursday in Federal District Court in Manhattan, assaulted her multiple times, leaving her wounded and injured; she claims his employees sometimes brought her to hotel rooms for days to recover from the public glare.
Ms. Ventura said in one of the suit's most alarming allegations that she was forced to engage in sexual relations with a succession of male prostitutes for years while Mr. Combs watched, masturbated, and taped tapes. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Combs referred to these events as "freak offs," and they occurred in a number of high-end hotels around the United States.
Mr. Combs, according to Ms. Ventura's suit, had authority over practically every area of her life, including paying for her homes, cars, clothes, and other essentials, as well as access to her personal medical data. According to the lawsuit, Ms. Ventura did not go to the police because she was afraid it would "merely give Mr. Combs another excuse to hurt her."
