After winning all three of his nominated categories at the Grammy Awards, American rapper Killer Mike was taken into custody on Monday for misdemeanor battery, according to police.

The Los Angeles police released a statement to AFP stating, "On Sunday, February 4th, just after 4pm, a male adult was detained & handcuffed for a physical altercation."

The rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, was seen being taken in handcuffs to an undisclosed location at Crypto.Com Arena, the site of Sunday's Grammy Awards, in a video that a Hollywood Reporter reporter shared on social media.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department stated that "the suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Michael Render and booked for Misdemeanor Battery."

According to the department, he was freed without posting bail after being detained and brought to the police station.

Apparently, while he was being held, Killer Mike tweeted a string of emojis to symbolize his three victories and perfect sweep, along with the words, "Thank God."

Killer Mike won Grammys for Best Rap Album for "Michael " and Best Rap Song and Performance for "Scientists & Engineers."

"I consciously set out to make the best album in the world," he told journalists backstage.

"I consciously set out to tell the story of a young Black boy growing up on the west side of Atlanta so that the world can see that our narrative isn't just victimization and losing, but we can win, we can thrive and prosper."
