Renowned Kenyan rapper Octopizzo has shared his perspective on the state of the Kenyan music industry. He believes that many artists are facing challenges because they prioritize seeking attention over focusing on their craft and personal development.
In a recent interview with Nairobi News, Octopizzo underscored the significance of maintaining privacy and concentrating on music production and career advancement. He pointed out the distractions and risks associated with chasing fame without considering financial stability and long-term success.
“Being private gives me peace since this generation has a lot of sideshows, and after I realized that sideshows will never pay anyone, I decided to stay low-key,” Octopizzo explained.
Octopizzo emphasized that the relentless pursuit of fame often leads to neglecting income generation, putting Kenyan artists at risk of becoming burdens to their communities and experiencing depression due to social media pressures.
Octopizzo emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his music career as a professional endeavor, dedicating specific hours to studio sessions and setting boundaries on his work hours. “I want people to see music first when they see me and not any other thing,” he stated.
