Singer Celine Dion recently opened up about her battle with stiff person syndrome (SPS).
In an Instagram post, she characterized her battle with the autoimmune disease as "one of the hardest experiences of my life."
Despite the difficulties, she wanted to return to the stage and live regularly.

"As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team and all of you!" wrote Dion.
Dion's tweet included a photo of her three boys, René-Charles, Nelson, and Eddy, whom she shares with her late husband, René Angélil, who died in 2016.

Stiff person syndrome is an uncommon neurological disorder that causes muscular spasms and stiffness. It can be caused by a variety of stimuli, including sound, light, and emotional discomfort, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
Dion, who initially revealed her illness in 2022, has had to postpone her tour and live engagements owing to her health.
In her message to her fans and anyone impacted by SPS, Dion encouraged and supported them, telling them to believe in their power to conquer the condition's hardships.
"I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world that have been affected by SPS. I want you to know you can do it! We can do it!." she concluded.
