Bensoul faced criticism for wearing a skirt during his album launch for 'The Lion Of Sudah' on April 20th, 2023.
As the sole remaining signed artist at Sauti Sol’s label, Sol Generation, following Nviiri's recent departure, Bensoul found himself under fire for his fashion choice, a kilt, during the event.
According to some fans, Bensoul is perceived to be gradually losing support by embracing the queer community.
In a video circulating on social media, Bensoul is seen wearing a customized pink-patterned suit paired with a matching pleated skirt.
His ensemble is completed with a matching tie around his neck, while his trousers feature buttons on one side.

The tradition of men wearing skirts, known as kilts, originates from Scotland and has been practiced for centuries. However, various other countries around the world also have their own versions of men wearing similar garments, including Greece, Egypt, Fiji, and Indonesia, among others.
Locally, notable figures who have been seen wearing skirts include former football star Dennis Oliech, YouTuber and comedian Tumbili, and singer Rayvanny, among others.
