Tanzanian Bongo star Diamond Platnumz has once again faced criticism for his English language skills, this time during an exchange with American singer Jason Derulo. When Jason asked Diamond what time he had arrived, Diamond's response drew attention. "When did you get in town?" Jason inquired. Diamond, looking serious, replied, "Second right? Second in the morning."

In 2022, Diamond also made headlines for his English when he mistakenly referred to his age as “31st” while responding to a question about his age. This led to a wave of memes and jokes online. Despite the backlash, some defended him, arguing that he should not be judged harshly since English is not his first language, and encouraged him to use Kiswahili instead.

In 2023, Diamond was criticized again for mispronouncing 'song' as 'sing' in a conversation with his children. “I am going to do another sing,” he said, explaining why he needed to leave early.

Diamond’s struggles with English are not new. In 2018, he was mocked for his inability to answer a question in English posed by his daughter Latiffa. In a video, Latiffa playfully asked her father about the hairs on his chest, suggesting he should feed them to birds. Diamond, struggling with the language, admitted, “This is the hair, I do not know how to explain it in English my friend, my English is not good.”
