**Royal Media Journalist Anne Nyathira Nominated for Best NGO Coverage Award**

Royal Media Services journalist Anne Nyathira has been nominated for the Best Journalist in Coverage of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) category at the inaugural NGO Awards 2024.

The awards, organized by the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBORA) in collaboration with Awesome Concepts Limited, aim to honor individuals and organizations championing environmental and societal change in Kenya.

The ceremony is set for November 29, 2024, at Emara Ole Sereni in Nairobi. Nominees will be recognized across various categories, including Celebrity Champion of the Year, CEO of the Year, NGO of the Year, Best in Women and Gender Inclusion, and Best in Governance and Healthcare, among others.


Joining Nyathira in the Best Journalist category are Hellen Shikanda (Daily Nation), Suleiman Yeri (The Standard), Angela Oketch (Nation.Africa), and Wahome Ngatia (Civilsocieties.org).

PBORA’s Acting Director General, Lindon Otieno, praised the nominees, saying, *“NGOs complement the government’s efforts to improve citizens’ lives. The nominees are a beacon of hope, demonstrating how innovation and commitment can address some of our time's most pressing issues.”* Awesome Concepts’ Leonard Ndungu added, *“By celebrating these dedicated organizations, we inspire further action and amplify the life-changing work happening across communities.”*


Notable nominees include:

- **Celebrity Champion of the Year:** Eric Omondi, Ndungu Nyoro (Affecto Foundation), Janet Mbugua (Inua Dada Foundation), musician Karangu Muraya, and TikToker Baba Talisha.

- **CEO of the Year:** Dr. Githinji Gitahi (AMREF Health Africa), Kennedy Odede (SHOFCO), Jeanette Valeria (FAWEK), Dr. Paul Kahumba (Wildlife Direct), and Wawira Njiru (Food for Education).

- **NGO of the Year:** SHOFCO, FAWE, Boma, CIHEB, and Food for Education.

- **Best in Women and Gender Inclusion:** FAWE Kenya, Action Aid Kenya, Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Boma, and Dandelion Africa.
