Kenyans on Twitter have come out guns blazing against famous comedian njuguna, famously known as njugush, for promoting equity bank amidst numerous complaints from their clients about money missing from their accounts.

In a deleted viral video, njugush is promoting the bank, asking Kenyans and parents to use equity bank to pay fees for their children. The video's target audience was parents who were taking their children to secondary schools.

Kenyans on Twitter were not pleased with the comedian stunt because the bank has been trending since Friday after a client complained that an older man known as peter had over ksh 1 million mysteriously withdrawn from the account. All efforts to reach the bank have been futile. Mr peter says that it has been seven months since the incident happened, and the bank has not made any efforts to recover the money or to explain how the money vanished from his account.

After this tweet went viral, many equity clients came out to air their grievances about the bank. Most clients complain that they have had the same experience where the money would go missing from their accounts and the bank could not offer a satisfactory explanation.

While responding to the njugush stunt, controversial blogger cyprian nyakundi tweeted that Equity bank MUST carry its cross. And that they cannot pay influencers to sanitize them. He added that Kenyans want answers about insider fraud and criminals that have taken over the bank.

The blogger added that if the CBK boss Patrick Njoroge were serious about the issue, he would have started investigations into the bank, but because he is a puppet to the equity boss James Mwangi, he cannot do anything about it.

Njugush has since deleted the promotional video from all his social media platforms. Equity bank has been silent on the allegations and has yet to respond.
