On Wednesday, Jose Mourinho cast uncertainty on his future as the manager of Roma, stating that he felt "too tired" following the bitter disappointment of losing his first significant European final to Sevilla. The match in Budapest ended in a 1-1 draw, with Paulo Dybala scoring for Roma and an own goal from Gianluca Mancini levelling the score for Sevilla. The Spanish team emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 4-1.
For Mourinho, this defeat marks a new experience, as the 60-year-old had previously emerged victorious in all five of his prior major European finals, including last year's inaugural UEFA Conference League final with Roma.
"I'm too tired to do the job as a trainer, as a spokesman of the club, to fight every time," he said in the immediate aftermath of the defeat.
When questioned about his future, Mourinho expressed that such inquiries were "not important at the moment." He mentioned his anticipation of going on holiday once the season concludes.

Roma currently holds the sixth position in Serie A, with one remaining match.
Mourinho voiced his disappointment with the officiating during the final and believed that several decisions were unfavourable towards his team.
"We felt pressure against a team that has more talent than us," he said. "We lost a game but not dignity.
"I've never gone home prouder than today, even when I won. We had also worked hard on penalties, but we missed two – but all together, not only the penalty takers.
"Congratulations to Sevilla, but also congratulations to my players. The boys must go home peacefully, with pride for having done what they have done. These are my boys from Budapest."
