Kenneth Gichoya alias Njoro, a former Papa Shirandula actor, was transported to the hospital on Friday morning after an accident on the recently resurfaced Maasai Lodge Road.
Njoro, who lives in Twala Rongai, was driving with a passenger towards Magadi Road when he crashed into a river.
According to witnesses, Njoro, who rose to prominence on a once-popular TV comedy show, was trying to dodge a boda boda rider in his lane and swerved to avoid hitting him, ending up in the river.
"We saw him pass us here and he waved to us, and the next thing we heard was that he was involved in an accident," a shopkeeper told Nairobi News.

Kajiado North police chief Hussein Gura, who was at a security baraza with other local security officials in the county, confirmed the event, saying it was sad that occurrences were growing in the area barely months after the road was resurfaced.
The actor has yet to be interviewed by police. His car was hauled to the police station in Ole Kasasi.
Residents want the contractor to install extra speed bumps and barriers along the route.
"We need bumps near the water because drivers, especially motorcyclists, are always speeding along the road," said Susan Kaletye, a local.
The event occurred just one day after a guy was crushed while walking by a vehicle.

The road, neglected for several years, was recently resurfaced and has been the site of several traffic incidents.
The father of two, who used to market sweets to support his family, now owns numerous houses in Rongai.
In an earlier interview, the actor stated that while selling sweets at the Kenya National Theatre, he met the late Charles Bukeko, nicknamed Papa Shirandula and offered him a role that transformed his life.
Njoro is a master of many trades. He now owns an entertainment venue, a hardware store, and a matatu company.
