On Thursday, December 2022, Trevor Noah signed off from The Daily Show. Trevor is a South African born in Johannesburg.

In late 2014, Stewart welcomed Noah after his producers brought the South African native comedy to his attention.

Just 9 months later, Trevor became the program's third host as Stewart moved on. Trevor was amused by this since he did not expect it to happen."It was a wild journey. The craziest journey I didn't predict," he said.

In his last episode, he had this to tell his fans and black women.

“Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me, and informed me? From my mum, my gran, my aunt – all the black women in my life,” he told the audience.

Trevor said that it was black women who had taught him most about America as they know that if things go wrong then they are the first to suffer.

In his goodbye monologue, he references the fact that he first found it hard to fill the seats in the studio but over the last seven years, Noah himself has brought in a younger enthusiastic audience.

Trevor announced his departure in September reflecting back on how people didn't believe that things would work out better for the show.

“I just find myself filled with gratitude for the journey. It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s something that I never expected.”
