Singer Bahati has urged greater cooperation among Kenyan artists in the face of Tanzanian and Nigerian music domination in the country.
Sharing images from various streaming sites, Bahati bemoaned that foreign artists are being heavily promoted in Kenya at the expense of local artists who have banded together to take their music to the next level.
"Wasanii wenzangu wa Kenya tumeacha jirani analala hadi na bibi zetu... From YouTube, Boomplay, iTunes to our radios & TVs... Number #1 to #10 Trending ni Tanzania I almost thought I was in Dar-es-alaam," Bahati lamented.

"It's not that I have anything against TZ or Nigeria; in fact, Chibu and King Kiba are my undeniable brothers, but we need to learn from this," he continued. This is the moment for Kenyan musicians to quit thinking they can succeed independently and band together..."
Bahati said that only some Kenyan musicians can take Kenyan music to the global stage by working with others.
"Or else we'll keep lifting the curtain for our neighbours... Look at what they're doing: they're banding together and, by working together, they're taking over at home and abroad! Understand me. sio collabo nikitaka collabo nitaimba na Diana B."
His words struck a chord with comedian Eric Omondi, who has praised him numerous times and called out Kenyan musicians for 'being lazy' and not doing enough to match or beat their regional counterparts.
Diana B, Bahati's wife, also pushed artists to get together and take the industry to the next level.
"Seriously, Kenyan artists shikaneni mjenge industry." Team Dee ndio's content creation is the best in Africa. Otherwise, kitaturamba will arrive very soon."
