The entertainment industry in Kenya is mourning the death of DJ Babu, who is based in Dubai, following a grisly road accident.
DJ Babu was pronounced dead on Tuesday when his car rolled.
His demise comes just three days after hosting Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones in Dubai.
Khaligraph's journey to Dubai had been heavily publicised by DJ Babu, who also urged Kenyans and admirers in the UAE to attend the concert.
The DJ's passing shook Kenya's entertainment industry because he was a major advocate for Kenyan music in Dubai and coordinated events for Kenyan performers.
DJ Crème de la Crème, who claimed to have been in daily contact with Babu and was a major admirer of his work, is one of many who were deeply saddened by his passing.
In an Instagram post, Creme eulogized Babu while highlighting his contribution to the industry.
"King, it's just the worst news I have heard thus far. We just talked the other day G. Thank you Babu for the good vibes, the gigs and for sharing your gift of music with us. Fly well my brother, we shall do this again someday.”
DJ Babu started his music career around 2008.
He then relocated to Dubai and established Jamdown Dubai, a venture promoting music and planning gigs for Kenyan artists.
