American pop star Melissa Viviane Jefferson famously known as Lizzo has denied allegations of sexual assault and body shaming made against her by her former dancers.

In a statement released by the singer on her on her Instagram page, she called the allegations sensational stories by employees whose contracts were terminated.


“These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized,’ she wrote on Instagram.

“Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.”

“These sensationalised stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behaviour on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.’ she continued.



According to the lawsuit, Lizzo allegedly pressured one of her dancers, Arianna Davis, into touching a nude performer at an Amsterdam strip club.

It is also said that the Grammy winner forced her dancers through a humiliating 12-hour re-audition, creating a hostile work atmosphere.

Assault, racial and religious harassment, fat-shaming, handicap discrimination, and false incarceration are other charges against the 35-year-old actress, her dance captain Shirlene Quigley, and Lizzo's production business Big Grrrl Big Touring.
