Lil Tay told TMZ that the preceding 24 hours had been traumatic, with word of her death spreading worldwide.
I want to emphasize that my brother and I are safe and well, yet I'm heartbroken and at a loss for words. It's been a terrifying 24 hours. I was plagued with sorrowful and tearful phone calls from loved ones all day yesterday, all while attempting to straighten out this mess."

According to the original post on her death, the "outcome was unexpected and has left us all in shock." It also stated that her brother had passed away. Following the post, some online questioned its legitimacy, citing her father and former manager's refusal to confirm her death and the fact that multiple police stations contacted by media sources had no reports of her death.
Tian, born in Atlanta, Georgia and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, first came to public attention in 2018, when footage of her at the age of nine went viral.
