Betty Kyallo has told the heartbreaking account of how her first boyfriend broke up following a disastrous accident.

The media star spoke candidly about the tragedy, which left her with severe injuries and crushed hopes. The TV girl's life tragically changed at 17 when she was hit by a speeding bus as she crossed the railroad lines to see her ex-boyfriend, who resided in the Nairobi suburb of Kayole.

She described the horrific occurrence, saying,

"I was going on a date and an appointment. I was crossing over the railways and a Matatu hit me, ripping off my face. I fell under it, and it dragged me on the tarmac road, causing my skin to peel off on the side of my face."

Recovery from the accident's aftereffects was a trying process for both the body and the mind.

Betty Kyallo sustained significant leg injuries, fractured ribs, a collarbone, and her mouth. She claims that her lungs were also impacted.

She spent a trying two and a half months in the hospital and had a total of seven surgeries, each one a step in the process of reassembling her broken body. The mishap dashed Kyallo's aspirations to work as a news anchor.

"I thought the matatu had killed my dream of becoming a news anchor," she admitted.

Kyallo faced hardship, yet she found hope thanks to her mother's persistent love and encouragement.

Her mother encouraged her to persevere and think about reconstructive surgery possibilities to speed up her recovery.

Betty Kyallo also experienced heartbreak when her ex-boyfriend decided to desert her while she was in need.

"He left me because I had gotten into an accident? That was very emotional for me," Kyallo shared. She lost faith in her partner and began to doubt the depth of their connection due to his lack of empathy and support.

Betty Kyallo's life turned unexpectedly when she ran across her ex-boyfriend again at a grocery store years later.

After realising the error of his ways, the ex-boyfriend professed a wish to make amends, but Betty had already moved on with another person.
