In the last few hours, the renowned Tanzanian actress and model, Wema Sepetu, has been at the center of attention.
This is due to an incident that occurred during her birthday celebration on Thursday night, wherein her mother, Mariam Sepetu, sternly reprimanded both her and her boyfriend, Whozu, an artist.
Wema's Mother delivered a lecture to the couple, who have been in a relationship for over a year, in front of all the friends and fellow celebrities they had invited to the celebration.
She expressed feeling deeply disrespected by the way Wema Sepetu and Whozu had made their relationship public, without first seeking her blessings as is customary.
"I want respect to reign. I want parents to be respected and as a child you must listen to your parents. For the boyfriend you have to come and introduce yourself" she said.

Mariam Sepetu emphasizes the importance of a child openly communicating with their parents about their romantic relationship. She believes it's crucial for the partner to be introduced at home, allowing both parties to get to know each other before progressing further.
"You also need to tell you mother that you have a boyfriend or a fiancé. Not going to introduce yourself to the public. I do not like it at all!
"First, come and inform your mother that you have a boyfriend or fiancé. You don't need to parade them around. I am your mother," angrily stated Mariam Sepetu.
Wema Sepetu's Response to the Scolding Just hours after the videos of the scolding became widely circulated, Wema Sepetu has at last spoken up.
In a lengthy post on her Instagram account, the stylish model expressed her deep disappointment with how her birthday celebration ultimately devolved into a complete disaster.
She expressed that all she wanted was to have a good time on her special day, but it was spoiled by her own mother.
The former Miss Tanzania went on to vent her frustration, branding the Thursday birthday party as the most disappointing she had ever attended.
Wema Sepetu firmly stated that this would be the final occasion she organizes a birthday celebration, as she was deeply wounded by how things unfolded.
"My main aim was to celebrate my birthday with my friends but it did not go down as I had expected. In short my party was a total mess...I never achieved my goal...
I did everything to plan something good that would make me happy on my birthday but it did not go as planned...I feel so bad.
This was the worst Birthday Party of my Life and I feel like I will never throw another party in my life...I'm so heartbroken but everything happens for a reason...that's why let me just say 'Alhamdulillah'...
Had to take that off my chest...if I kept it to myself I could have died...😔😔😔🥺🥺🥺😔😔😔" Wema Sepetu wrote.
Her message, however, provoked diverse reactions from online users. Some, in fact, believed her mother was correct, while others felt that her mother was wrong to address the matter during her birthday gathering.
