Kenya’s feature film 'Mvera', helmed by director Daudi Angaka, has been selected as Kenya’s official entry for the International Best Feature Film category at the 96th Academy Awards.

The movie narrates the tale of an indigenous community grappling with poverty exacerbated by corrupt leadership.

The movie showcases esteemed actors including Patrick Owino, Hillary Namanje, Carolyne Rita Mutua, Kibi Salim, Susan Kadide, and Linah Sande.

This announcement was made by the Kenya Film Commission. 'Mvera' premiered on September 9 at the Nyali Cinemax in Mombasa and is presently being screened across the nation.

Kenya’s entry into the Best International Feature Film category dates back to 2012, but none have clinched nominations thus far.

As per the Oscars website, all active and lifetime Academy members will receive an invitation to watch eligible submissions in this category. The highest-rated films will progress to the subsequent round of voting. 'Mvera' is presently enjoying a nationwide screening.
