Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rebecca Miano has confirmed Esther Njeri Ngari as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs).
According to a gazette notice by the CS, Njeri will serve in the position for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) of the Standards Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry appoints ESTHER NJERI NGARI to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Bureau of Standards, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th October, 2023,” read the notice.
Ngari has served in the position on an interim basis after former CEO Bernard Njiraini was shown the door over his alleged role in releasing commended sugar.
Subsequently, the National Standards Council opened applications for the position until August 8, 2023.
