Belgut MP Nelson Koech maintains that the funds set aside in preparations for el-nino rains will be accounted for.
The funds had been provided to county governments in anticipation of the now-unlikely El Nino rains projected by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
According to MP Koech, parliament would guarantee that the expected Ksh.10 billion distributed to counties to mitigate the predicted rains is used wisely.

"It's critical to ensure that those resources were used wisely, because I know there were people eager to get their hands on that money." "As MPs, we will oversee to ensure that no money is wasted," he stated.
He also expressed reservations about Kenya Met's forecast, claiming that nothing pointed to a potential meteorological disaster.
"I had cursed out the prophecies that had been made because I was skeptical. I'm not sure where the Kenya MET received the information. "I looked at all the science involved and couldn't find anything that could point in that direction," he stated.
He emphasizes the importance of the country constantly being prepared for changes in weather patterns to help cushion inhabitants from the repercussions.
President William Ruto announced on Sunday that the country will not be affected by the rains because the department has toned them down to short rains.
The weatherman had warned that El Nino would affect the country from mid-October to December before adding that rains would be heavy but not El Nino-like.
Nairobi County had previously declared a plan to acquire motor boats, inflatable water rafts, and boats to prevent future flood-related tragedies.
