A woman who identified herself as Governor Kawira Mwangaza's husband first wife made a heartfelt plea for assistance in supporting their children for the first time in 2020. She voiced her discontent with Murega and Mwangaza's participation in the Okolea program, citing hypocrisy, given the challenges she and her children were facing.

The family reached out to well-wishers, particularly to support one of Murega's daughters, who was still awaiting the opportunity to begin university.

Well, after this, the firstborn Riziki Murega managed to joing Murang'a University but as of October 2023, Murega's daughter pleaded with Kenyans to help her and her mother raise school fees of Ksh.150,000.

In the recent past, Murega's first wife Karimi was visited by politician Mike Makarina. During the visit, she voiced her disillusionment with Murega highlighting what she perceived as their double standards. She contended that she and her children should have been considered for the Okolea program flaged by Murega and governor Kawira, given their ongoing struggle to meet their basic needs.

In the video posted by Makarina, the woman advised her husband that charitable efforts should start within their own family.

"I always wonder why they are doing the Okolea program while he should start here. You cannot go to help others when your place is on fire. Charity begins at home," she said.

The woman's brother mentioned that the family has been struggling to make ends meet, as her salary alone is insufficient to cover the alleged children's education expenses.
