One person has died after a vehicle ferrying Miraa was involved in an accident at Kabonge area on Kagumo-Karatina road in Kirinyaga County.
Three other people are nursing severe injuries at the ACK Mt. Kenya Hospital in Kerugoya, while the body of the deceased was moved to the Kerugoya hospital mortuary.
According to witnesses, the driver of the Toyota Probox appeared to lose control due to speed and rammed an oncoming pickup as he descended a hill.
Police from Sagana Traffic Department arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after and coordinated the clearing of the wreckages of the two vehicles.
Residents have decried an increase in accident along the road, most of which they claim are caused by vehicles transporting miraa.
