Residents in Kapsoiyo, Bomet County, were shocked after a bride decided to cancel her wedding barely hours before the ceremony, asking the committee to give her more time e to decide.
The wedding preparation committee, led by Pastor Clement Chalulot of Kapsoiyo Africa Gospel Church (AGC), got a cancellation letter from the Reverend who was to conduct the ceremony, explaining that the event would not occur as planned due to a misunderstanding between the two families.
According to Pastor Chalulot, the celebration was canceled despite the groom's family having paid the dowry, three cows, and other obligations.

“Yesterday, as by the agreement, she refused to give us her documents like ID and other requirements. She was also not willing to cooperate with us, even though her man to be was assuring us that all was well,” stated the Pastor.
“We are lucky we spent only Ksh.50,000 out of our total budget of Ksh.256,000 for the event.”
At the same time, Pastor Chalulot stated that a messenger had been sent earlier to reconcile the two families, but the lady refused to participate in the meeting.
Following the bungled occasion, hundreds of villagers who had gathered to await the big day were treated to free mursik and other perishable meals prepared for the big day as efforts to return the dowry began.
