Police officers have arrested the driver of a 47-seater bus involved in a crash on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Tuesday that left 15 people dead.

Clement Kiarie, 34, the driver of the 'Classic King' bus, was arrested on Wednesday at the Mau Summit Police Station until his arraignment.

The 2.45 a.m. disaster killed eight adults and seven children, including five girls and two boys.

In the deadly incident, seven other passengers were critically hurt, while 38 others were treated for lesser ailments.

The injured were carried to Molo Sub-County Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were sent to the facility's mortuary.

A 14-seater Matatu collided head-on with a bus on the busy Nakuru-Eldoret route early Tuesday morning.
