A 22-year-old gold miner on Sunday night got electrocuted and died on the spot at Pap Ka’Mboha village in Alego/Usonga sub-county, Siaya County.
The miner, Vincent Odhiambo, died at a gold mining site where he had been working as a machine operator.
According to Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was reported by Bar-Ding sub-location Assistant Chief Musa Okello, who stated that the deceased was struck within the mining site.
Members of the public retrieved the body of the deceased and then moved by the police to Siaya County referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
