A Kasarani police officer cried like a baby while being arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for soliciting a Ksh. 30,000 bribe.

Paul Kamau Mbugua was apprehended at a liquor store on Lumumba Drive after demanding a bribe to free two brothers whom he had unlawfully arrested and imprisoned at Kasarani Police Station.

According to the EACC, Mbugua failed to register the brothers' alleged crimes in the station's occurrence book.

Despite resisting arrest and creating a commotion at the liquor store, EACC officers apprehended the sobbing suspect and transported him to Kilimani Police Station.

"The suspect was escorted to Kilimani Police Station, where he is currently detained pending further processing today at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station," a source from the anti-graft agency told Citizens Digital.

"Detectives confiscated the suspect's Taurus Revolver Pistol S/No. Q130360 and ammunition, which they later handed over to the OCS EACC Police Station."

Confirming the arrest, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi stated that the Commission got a complaint concerning the officer on Friday and conducted investigations before apprehending the culprit.
