Bondo residents are in shock after the body of a middle-aged man was found floating in Lake Victoria near Uhanya Beach in Bondo sub-county.

The body was identified as that of a 30-year-old fisherman, Peter Murunga Omoding, and was discovered near the shoreline.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was reported to Usenge police station by Naphtaly Oduor, Assistant Chairman of the Uhanya Beach Management Unit. He stated that they had gotten word from local fishermen that a body had been discovered floating on the lake.

Officers from the Uhanya police patrol base responded to the beach and recovered the body of the deceased, who is from Teso in Busia County.

While confirming the occurrence, Kimaiyo claimed that the deceased, who had no evident physical injuries, had been transported to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary to await a postmortem while the inquiry continued.
