The National Museums of Kenya will start a new search for Dedan Kimathi, the Mau Mau freedom fighter.

In 1957, Kimathi was put to death by the colonial powers. This comes after it is anticipated that the National Museums of Kenya will uncover the late independence hero's remains through a Scientific Workshop designed to locate the grave using Archeological Geophysical Techniques.

The groundbreaking workshop "Unmarked Grave Search of Dedan Kimathi Utilizing Archaeological Geophysical Techniques" is scheduled for February 29, 2024, at the esteemed Louise Leakey Auditorium. Its goal is to use cutting-edge geophysical techniques to find the final resting place of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, one of Kenya's most revered freedom fighters.

Leading authorities in the domains of geophysics and archaeology have joined forces for this workshop in an attempt to solve this historical enigma.

Through theoretical discussions, real-world examples, and interactive exercises, participants will explore the nuances of archaeological geophysical techniques and their use in locating unmarked graves.

One cannot stress how important this project is. Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi was a crucial figure in Kenya's independence movement and a representation of the people's tenacity and will in the face of injustice.

However, the precise location of his grave is still unknown, casting doubt on a significant period of Kenyan history.
