A bus from Embu to Mombasa carrying five passengers lost control before landing in a ditch near Samson corner along the Mwea-Embu highway.
One of the rescued passengers told Citizen Digital that the accident happened after the steering wheel malfunctioned.
“I heard the driver saying that the steering wheel had locked, before the bus lost control and overturned,” she said.
Traffic officers from Wanguru police station arrived at the accident scene and recorded statements from the passengers and the driver.
Confirming the accident, Mwea East sub-county police commander Patrick Nyaanga said the bus had been towed to Wanguru police station.
